The Department of Public Works in the Village of Tarrytown is supervised by the General Foreman and consists of 31 employees who are responsible for all highway, water, sewer, sanitation and recycling duties.
Hours:
Recycling Center Hours: Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Recycling is picked up on Wednesdays.
Recycling Pickup:
Every Wednesday except if it is a hoiday.
Leaf pickup:
Starts on October 11th through December 9th, 5 days per week. After December 9th the leaves must be bagged and put at the curb to be picked up on the normal scheduled garbage pickup day. The leaves will be picked up in the afternoon.
The Highway Department handles all road maintenance, Village property maintenance (including trees), flower watering in the business district, snow plowing and removal, catch basin repair, leaf pick-up, bulk metal pick-up as well as holiday and summer decorations. They are also on call for any emergency work resulting from inclement weather.
The Sanitation Department is responsible for all residential and commercial trash pick-up and recycling.
The Water Department handles all aspects of the water and sewer system, including meter readings and repair, water treatment and distribution, sewer back ups and water main service repairs.
The Village Recycling Center, located adjacent to the Department of Public Works facility at 4 Division Street, is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Residents may drop off all recycling with the exception of cardboard boxes and plastic bags.
