UPDATE - Major ConEd Gas Main Work to Begin - Broadway and Wilson Park Neighborhood

NYSDOT Broadway Rte 9 Repaving to Be Delayed to 2022

Update 11/8/2021 -

• Hamilton work - this week, work will continue through Friday, and will also take place on Thursday (Veteran’s Day).  The project on this road will take approximately through December 1, 2021 (weather permitting), and most if not all of the work will be during the day. Displaced cars can park with a Village permit in either the McKeel Parking Lot or the Neperan Road Parking Lot.

• McKeel work, which is causing the road to be closed during construction, will continue approximately through December 1, 2021, and most if not all of the work will be during the day.

• LeGrande and Croton Avenues will have gas main construction work begin after December 1, 2021.  A letter will be sent out to people who live on those affected streets that has more detailed information.  We will make provisions for any people displaced from parking on the street to have a temporary parking permit to park at no cost in either the McKeel Lot or in the Neperan Lot (behind the former Citibank).

• On Broadway – night work will be required starting tomorrow night, going Tuesday night, Wednesday night and Thursday night (3 nights in a row) during the hours of 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., in order to recess or make-flush the plates along Broadway.  This work cannot be done during the day because of the disastrous impacts such work would have on traffic. We are doing everything in our power to expedite the night work that needs to be done to secure and silence noise from the steel plates from banging along the road.

• Cortlandt & Main Street – there is emergency gas main repair work taking place on Cortlandt Avenue and Main Street, right near Village Hall.  There are intermittent traffic closures that are necessary on Cortlandt Avenue.  That work will continue for another 2 to 3 weeks.

Update 10/18/21 - Work on N. Broadway continuing until Nov.7th; Coned is looking to do all services at night if possible to avoid disruption on N. Broadway during the day. They will begin to excavate on Hamilton going towards Mckeel on 11/25 during the day time until year end. Work on Wilson Park road continues towards Warren, and from McKeel Ave towards Beech Lane.

Update 10/4/21 - ConEd work continues. Some jackhammering may take place. We have requested that all jackhammering cease by 11pm.

Update 8/26/21 - ConEd has dug service pits all the way to McKeel Avenue. The project is moving along quickly and ConEd's contractor has already begun restoring pits in Sleepy Hollow.

UPDATE 7/23/21 - Broadway (Route 9) Gas Main Work - Work to Begin Sooner Than Anticipated

ConEdison is installing new gas mains from Beekman Avenue (Sleepy Hollow) to Hamilton Place (Tarrytown). The work commences at Beekman Avenue and will work its way down to Tarrytown over the summer. Originally we had anticipated work beginning late August, however ConEd has just informed the Village that they are ahead of schedule and work will begin in Tarrytown Monday July 26th.  They anticipate completing work in Tarrytown within 8-12 weeks. ConEdison will also be notifying businesses and residents along the area via email and via letter/hang card directly sent to the home. ConEd will be working during overnight hours as follows:

Monday 6:30 PM - 6:00 AM
Tuesday 6:30 PM - 6:00 AM
Wednesday 6:30 PM - 6:00 AM
Thursday 6:30 PM - 6:00 AM
Friday 6:30 PM - 6:00 AM
Saturday 6:30 PM - 6:00 AM

Lastly, as a result of this ConEdison work on Broadway, NYSDOT has announced that they will postpone repaving Broadway (Route 9) from 119 to Beekman Avenue until Spring of 2022. Con Ed will temporarily restore the road upon completion of their work and the road will be fully repaved by NYS in 2022.

Wilson Park Gas Work

ConEdison also has approached the Village to upgrade its gas mains in the Wilson Park neighborhood (and surrounding neighborhoods). This work will start on the following roads Wilson Park Drive (From Tower Hill Road to Beech Lane); Warner Lane, River Terrace, Lake Terrace, Warren Avenue (from Beech Lane to McKeel Ave). This work will be completed during normal work hours and PD will be on scene as necessary. Residents can anticipate road closures, however access to homes will be maintained (although there may be minor delays at times for access)

Later in the project (and proceeding into 2022) the following streets will be upgraded/impacted as well: Walden Rd, Beech Lane, Warren Avenue, McKeel Avenue, Suncliff Drive, Sunhaven Ct, Woodland Ave, Hillside Place, and lastly, Neperan Rd from McKeel to Egans Lot (proceeding along the trail). We will keep the community apprised of updates as the ConEd work progresses.

There may be a temporary suspension of gas service to homes as ConEd disconnects & reconnects service. Residents should be aware that an inspection is required before they turn the gas back on, and if there are any indoor failures, leaks or hazards with your gas systems, they could issue a “red card” and shut down residents’ gas service until those issues are remedied. You may have even already had an inspection, as we had mentioned a few weeks ago that inspections were ongoing.
