What is the procedure for obtaining a building permit for the installation of a sprinkler system?

PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING A BUILDING PERMIT FOR THE INSTALLATION OF A N.F.P.A. SPRINKLER SYSTEM

Submit three (3) sets of sprinkler plans, specifications and calculations reflecting compliance with the National Fire Protection Association requirements.

Complete Building Permit application and submit with the following:

  • Indicate the estimated market value of the proposed work where requested on application form and pay related fee in check form payable to the Village of Tarrytown.
  • Submit contractors "Certificate of Insurance" for Workmen's Compensation" with the Village named as "Certificate Holder".

Plan review is then performed by the Building Department which reviews all applications and plans on the basis of first come, first served. "Complex multiple family or commercial/industrial" designs will be reviewed by Village Consultant. Any comment generated from said reviews will be forwarded to the applicant for revision.

Revised plans are resubmitted and again reviewed by the Building Department and appropriate consultants for compliance with previous comments. Plans are reviewed on the basis of first come first served. When compliance with appropriate code and standards is shown, Building Permit is issued.
